Meaning and Structure...!

We need to provide abundant nourishment for the soul, rooted in reverence for God Almighty and glorification of Him, love for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and a steadfast commitment to following his example. This spiritual sustenance also entails treating the affairs of the Hereafter as the most important and deserving of priority care. Through this nourishment, we affirm that serving the soul is no less important than serving the body.

If the well-being of the body lies in consuming wholesome food and wearing fine garments, then the well-being of the soul resides in performing righteous deeds, offering assistance, and feeling that one is walking on the right path. In fact, attention to and revitalization of the spiritual dimension are far greater and more significant than mere luxury; they are fundamentally essential to human life. This is because they help the self confront life’s hardships and tribulations, and the resulting frustration, despair, and sense of unhappiness. Moreover, they aid in addressing certain moral and psychological ailments that every person may encounter, such as envy, malice, selfishness, greed, excessive desire for superiority and winning competitions over others, and vengeful tendencies. Additionally, they cultivate the qualities of a good life within us, including contentment, simplicity, humility, love of justice, and doing good.

Human beings consist of both soul and body, meaning and form, outward appearance and inner reality. Just as the body cannot sustain life without meeting its needs for food, drink, and clothing, the soul cannot maintain its vitality, clarity, and role in providing happiness and tranquility without fulfilling its own needs. The soul is nourished by meanings and symbols, and the source of its energy and refreshment stems from acts of worship—such as prayer, fasting, almsgiving, remembrance of God Almighty, and recitation of the Quran—as well as activities that benefit people and public life in various ways.

Let us nourish our souls with all the feelings and behaviors we are endowed with, for we are in dire need of this under the current complex political circumstances. We need to feed our souls by praising, glorifying, and communing with God Almighty, beseeching Him, and humbly supplicating to Him to remove calamities, alleviate distress, and protect the country and its people from the harm of envious and sinful individuals who cause damage to the nation and its citizens.
