Report: Onana on Barcelona's radar in the summer transfer window

Spanish club Barcelona is considering signing Moroccan midfielder Zinedine Ounahi during the current summer transfer window to compensate for the absence of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who will be sidelined for several months due to injury.
Reports, including the program “El Chiringuito de Jugones” broadcast on Mega TV, indicated that this move comes amid the need for a replacement for De Jong, who suffered a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his right knee during the 2026 World Cup finals and is expected to return to action next November.
The reports added that Ounahi has impressed Barcelona officials with his technical abilities, his capacity to penetrate opposing lines, and his experience in the Spanish league, but the Catalan club has not yet made a final decision on submitting a formal offer to sign him.
Ounahi’s stock rose following his impressive performances with the Moroccan national team at the 2026 World Cup, as well as his standout season with Girona, despite the team’s relegation to the second division. This has attracted interest from several European clubs, including Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam.
