Capital Governor: We draw inspiration from the memory of the invasion in the meanings of patience, giving, and continuing construction

The Governor of the Capital, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, recalled “the thirty-sixth anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion, that tragic event which constituted one of the most difficult chapters in our nation’s history, leaving deep wounds and pains in the hearts of Kuwaitis that remain vivid in the national memory, despite the passage of years.”

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem stated in a comment that “August 2 will remain etched in the memory of every Kuwaiti, a day on which we remember the blatant aggression and violation of sovereignty inflicted upon our homeland, the harsh conditions endured by Kuwaitis and residents on its soil, and the unjust practices witnessed during that period that targeted the Kuwaiti people, their security, and stability. Yet, this ordeal simultaneously revealed the noble character of Kuwaitis, their cohesion, unity, steadfast loyalty to their legitimate leadership, and their firm belief in the justice of their cause.”

He added that “Kuwaitis wrote brilliant pages of heroism and sacrifice during the odious occupation, setting splendid examples of resilience and steadfastness, making immense sacrifices in defense of the nation, its identity, and its dignity. Men and women, youth and elders, stood as one front against the occupation, convinced that Kuwait would remain free and proud, and that the will of its people is stronger than any attempts at aggression.”

He continued, “From the Capital Governorate, which has been and remains a model of national cohesion and joint effort, we affirm that the people of the governorate, like all Kuwaitis, will remain loyal to their homeland, drawing inspiration from that era in terms of patience, generosity, and dedication, and continuing the path of construction and development under the banner of wise leadership, for a more secure and prosperous future.”
