Charity leaders: Kuwait will remain resilient, united in its people and leadership
Charitable leaders emphasized that charitable work played a key role in strengthening social cohesion during the occupation period, and continues today to fulfill its national and humanitarian mission in serving Kuwait and defending its values. They reaffirmed their rejection of any aggression that infringes upon the state’s sovereignty, security, and stability, asserting that Kuwait will remain resilient due to the unity of its people and leadership.
Hamad Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the Al-Isalah Social Association, stated that the anniversary of the brutal invasion of Kuwait will remain an eternal national milestone, evoking in successive generations the meanings of resilience and sacrifice, and renewing the pledge to uphold unity, loyalty to the homeland, and solidarity around the wise political leadership. He stressed that what Kuwait suffered in 1990 was a crime and a blatant aggression that violated the state’s sovereignty and contravened all international laws and norms. However, the will and unity of Kuwaitis proved stronger than all attempts to break the nation or undermine its resolve.
For his part, Saad Al-Otaibi, President of the Federation of Charitable Associations and Institutions, affirmed that “the anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait will remain an eternal national milestone, evoking in generations the meanings of resilience and steadfastness, and underscoring that the unity of Kuwaitis and their solidarity around their wise leadership has been and remains the safety valve in confronting all challenges.”
Al-Otaibi noted that “this anniversary gains doubled importance today in light of the recent condemned Iranian aggressions targeting Kuwait’s territory and vital infrastructure.” He strongly condemned this blatant Iranian aggression as a serious violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, a breach of international law, and an unacceptable attack on its security and stability. He emphasized that any threat to Kuwait’s security or the safety of its people is unacceptable and condemned by all standards.
Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Namaa Al-Khairiya, also affirmed that “the anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion will remain an eternal testament to the resilience of the Kuwaiti people and their ability to overcome the most severe hardships.” He pointed out that this anniversary evokes feelings of loyalty to the homeland and reinforces the values of unity, solidarity, and cohesion around wise political leadership.
Al-Kandari said: “In these days, we recall the brutal aggression Kuwait suffered, which violated its sovereignty and security, and we draw from that difficult period great lessons in sacrifice and resilience. Kuwaitis from all segments of society proved that their unity was the strongest fortress against occupation, and that love for the homeland is a steadfast value that does not waver in the face of challenges.”
He added: “The Iranian aggressions that targeted Kuwait’s security and vital infrastructure are clearly condemned and rejected. We reaffirm that any infringement on the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait or the security of its citizens is an unacceptable violation, and that targeting civilians and vital facilities contradicts all humanitarian values and international laws.”
