Tendering Open for Cloud Data Centers Project Stations

The Central Tenders Board announced on Sunday the deadline for submitting bids for the tender of the project to supply and install three main substations, along with their feeders and accessories, for the cloud data centers project in several areas.
Following the opening of bids, they will be referred to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy for review and preparation of a technical recommendation within 30 days, to facilitate the decision to award the contract to the compliant offer that meets the prevailing technical specifications.
The substations hold special importance as they constitute key infrastructure for one of the flagship projects relied upon by the Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology. The project contributes to strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and supporting digital transformation efforts in both the public and private sectors by providing advanced and secure cloud computing services, thereby enhancing Kuwait’s position as a trusted regional hub for data and cloud computing services.
In a related development, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy continues to complete procedures related to the construction, completion, and maintenance of two water pipelines: the first is a 1,600mm-diameter fresh water pipeline extending from the Abdullah Port Water Distribution Complex to the West Al-Fanitees Complex, and the second is a 1,200mm-diameter slightly saline water pipeline from the Abdullah Port Complex to the Zour Complex, along with associated works.
Recently, the Ministry addressed the Central Tenders Board seeking approval to launch the project for classified companies interested in competing. However, the Board deferred its decision until it receives a new letter from the Ministry detailing the amendments discussed.
The project is among the developmental initiatives included in the Ministry’s plan, represented by the Water Projects Sector. It aims to enhance fresh and slightly saline water supplies to the West Al-Fanitees area and surrounding regions, ensuring continuous pumping at normal rates around the clock, thereby minimizing interruptions or supply shortages.
If the Board approves the launch after the required amendments are completed, the tender will be announced and the bid submission deadline set, before being referred to the Ministry for review within 30 days, and then returned to the Board to make the award decision in accordance with approved procedures.
The Water Projects Sector’s plan also includes two similar projects: the first involves constructing and completing a 1,200mm-diameter ductile iron fresh water pipeline from Al-Mutlaa Al-Ali to the low-cost housing area; the second involves constructing, completing, and maintaining main 1,200mm-diameter ductile iron fresh water pipelines extending from Water Complex No. 1 (Al-Wafra) to the southern part of the Sabah Al-Ahmed residential city. These initiatives are part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the fresh water network and meet the needs of new urban areas.
