Sisi and Macron reaffirm the necessity of settling various conflicts peacefully

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, during a telephone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, discussed “recent developments in regional conditions and ways to achieve de-escalation and reduce current tensions, particularly the war with Iran, and the situations in Lebanon, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territories.”

According to the statement, the two presidents agreed to “continue consultations and political coordination to enhance peace in the Middle East region.” Macron also inquired about developments regarding the incident involving two ships at the port of Damietta on Wednesday, and affirmed France’s solidarity with Egypt, both government and people, in this circumstance.

Al-Sisi expressed “Egypt’s full solidarity with France” following the fires that affected some French regions in recent days, offering condolences to the victims and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

He expressed “Egypt’s complete confidence in the French side’s ability to overcome this crisis,” reaffirming Cairo’s readiness to provide all possible support to the French side in dealing with it, and conveying wishes for continued security and prosperity for France and its friendly people.

For his part, Macron appreciated “Egypt’s support for France during the current situation,” affirming that it “reflects the depth of the distinguished bilateral relations,” and expressing his “hope to continue strengthening the existing strategic partnership and the growing momentum characterizing relations between the two friendly countries.”
