Trump: Peace Council reaches agreement on disarmament in Gaza

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the “Peace Council,” which he established, has reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and all other armed factions in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump described the development as a “turning point in implementing Trump’s 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza.”

He clarified that the agreement would be implemented in stages, with Israeli forces withdrawing in tandem with the disarmament process. An international stabilization force would operate alongside a new Palestinian police force to secure the Strip.

Earlier on Thursday, sources reported that talks held in Cairo between mediators and Hamas leaders regarding the implementation of the Washington-brokered Gaza peace plan had achieved rare progress, despite an Israeli official stating that the proposed terms were unsatisfactory.
