Iran's blameworthy aggression targets a Chinese company in the north of the country
China’s Embassy: Attack targeted a vehicle belonging to a subcontractor working for the company, resulting in the death of its Nepali driver. Kuwait condemns the targeting of two ships at the Port of Damietta and reaffirms its full solidarity with Egypt.
Kuwaiti coordination – Arabic: To keep pace with regional developments and diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability, Arab condemnations continue of the aggression, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law and complicates efforts to contain tensions.
As the despicable Iranian aggression continued its treacherous attacks on the State of Kuwait, targeting on Thursday a building belonging to a Chinese company in the north of the country, waves of condemnation followed this aggressive behavior, which violates international law, while Kuwaiti communications with sister states continued to coordinate positions in response to this aggression.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, announced that “the despicable Iranian aggression targeted a building belonging to one of the Chinese companies in the north of the country, resulting in the death of one worker and causing serious material damage to the building.” In a press statement on Thursday, Al-Atwan said that “competent authorities immediately began taking the necessary measures and handling the situation in coordination with relevant entities.”
He added that “the Armed Forces reaffirm their continued execution of their duties with high efficiency, and the adoption of all necessary measures to protect the sovereignty of the homeland and safeguard its security and stability, in coordination with competent authorities to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.”
In the same context, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait clarified that the worker who died following the targeting of a project site implemented by a Chinese company, as a result of the Iranian attack, was a Nepali driver working for a subcontractor. He noted that “the incident did not result in any injuries or deaths among Chinese citizens in the country, but it caused material damage to the company’s property.”
The spokesperson, in a media statement, said that “according to the information we have, the attack occurred in northern Kuwait, where a vehicle belonging to a Kuwaiti subcontractor working on a project implemented by a Chinese company was attacked, resulting in the death of a driver holding Nepali nationality.” He expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, pointing out that “the Chinese side always emphasizes that any attack targeting innocent civilians or non-military objectives should be condemned.”
On the political front, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received a phone call from Jordanian Hashemite Kingdom Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Wednesday that the two ministers renewed their condemnation of the despicable Iranian attacks that targeted Kuwait and Jordan.
The call also discussed the latest regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region and ensuring the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.
The Foreign Minister also received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Union of the Comoros, Mbai Mohamed. Another statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the call reviewed the bilateral relations between the two sister states and ways to enhance them in various fields, in addition to the latest developments in the region.
In the same context, Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber held a telephone conversation yesterday with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad. Al-Jaber expressed Kuwait’s condemnation of the drone attack that targeted the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, which caused fires to break out on board two ships at the Port of Damietta the day before yesterday. He affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Egypt and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and preserve its security.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and rejection of the drone attack that targeted the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, which caused fires on board two ships at the Port of Damietta. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Egypt, its steadfast support, and its backing of all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and interests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and rejection of the renewed Iranian aggression that targeted Jordan with a number of missiles, deeming it a blatant violation of Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a threat to the security and stability of the region.
Arab condemnation and rejection of Iran’s treacherous conduct continued, as Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi strongly condemned “the renewed despicable Iranian attacks on the territories of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Kuwait.” He emphasized that “these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states and the provisions of international law, and represent a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.”
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi expressed the full solidarity of the GCC member states with Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and their support for all measures taken by both countries to protect their security and sovereignty.
The Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan both expressed their strong condemnation and rejection of the renewed brutal Iranian attacks on civilian and vital facilities in Kuwait. In separate statements, the foreign ministries of both countries described these attacks as a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, the safety of civilians, and a serious breach of international law, the UN Charter, and a flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution 2817.
Both ministries affirmed the full solidarity of Bahrain and Jordan with Kuwait, their complete backing in confronting these despicable and unjustified attacks, and their full endorsement of all legitimate measures taken to preserve Kuwait’s sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity, based on close historical fraternal ties and reaffirming that Kuwait’s security and stability are an integral part of the security of the GCC member states.
Similarly, the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned the renewed aggressive Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Jordan with missiles. In separate statements, their foreign ministries stated that these aggressive attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries, a shocking breach of international law, the UN Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.
Both ministries emphasized that the continuation of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation that could complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. They renewed the full solidarity of the UAE and Qatar with Jordan and Kuwait, and their support for all measures taken by both countries to safeguard their sovereignty and security.
