Ministry of Health Raises Staff Readiness to Latest MRI Safety Standards
The Council of Radiology and Radiation Therapy Departments at the Ministry of Health organized a scientific and training program, which included a series of lectures, workshops, and awareness events, with the participation of a select group of specialists from abroad, alongside lectures delivered via video conference by international experts in the field.
The program was held in observance of “Magnetic Resonance Imaging Safety Week,” which takes place annually during the last week of July, with the aim of enhancing awareness of best safety practices.
Dr. Bathineh Al-Kandari, Chair of the Council of Radiology and Radiation Therapy Departments and Head of the Radiology Department at Jabir Hospital, emphasized that the event reflects the Ministry of Health’s commitment to embedding a culture of safety in MRI environments and keeping pace with the latest global standards and practices, thereby contributing to improving the quality of health services and raising safety levels for patients and staff.
She explained that the program included specialized courses and workshops targeting radiologists and radiologic technologists, focusing on the latest safety standards, risk management, and safe handling of MRI equipment, as well as developing professional competencies and enhancing the readiness of teams working in the field.
She added that the program also featured awareness lectures directed at healthcare personnel from various specialties, including physicians, surgeons, nursing staff, and hospital workers, based on the principle that MRI safety is a shared responsibility requiring the integration of all members of the healthcare team to ensure the highest levels of safety and quality of care provided to patients.
She noted that hosting speakers and specialists from abroad, along with organizing lectures via video conference delivered by international experts, contributed to enriching the scientific program, facilitating the exchange of expertise, and gaining insight into the latest global developments in MRI safety.
Dr. Al-Kandari concluded by affirming that the Council of Radiology and Radiation Therapy Departments will continue to organize specialized scientific and training programs that enhance the culture of quality and safety, improve the efficiency of national cadres, and keep pace with the continuous evolution in radiology and medical imaging services, thereby positively impacting patient safety and the quality of healthcare.
