Egypt: Fire on two ships at Damietta port yesterday caused by drone

The Egyptian Cabinet announced that the fire that affected two ships at the Port of Damietta yesterday was caused by a drone.

In a press statement, it said, “Following the containment of the fire that affected two ships at the Port of Damietta on July 29, 2026, and after the relevant authorities conducted preliminary investigations into the incident, it was determined that the cause was a drone. No party has claimed responsibility for the incident. The relevant authorities are continuing their investigations to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and to take necessary measures to safeguard Egypt’s interests and national security.”
