Central Bank of Kuwait Issues Government Securities Worth KD 250 Million
The Central Bank of Kuwait issued local government debt instruments on Wednesday, consisting of treasury bonds and public debt operations, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, through a competitive auction with a uniform yield of 3.25%, and a value of 250 million dinars ($804.5 million) for a five-year maturity.
The issuance witnessed significant interest from local financial institutions, with bids submitted reaching 2.85 times the size of the issuance, totaling 712 million dinars ($2.29 billion). A total of 43 applications were submitted, of which 18 were accepted.
The issuances reflect continued confidence in sovereign debt instruments and their ability to attract local liquidity amid global market volatility. The entire issuance was allocated through the competitive tranche, without resorting to the non-competitive tranche, with a maximum allocation limit of 100 million dinars per participant to enhance distribution efficiency.
This brings the number of issuances executed from the beginning of 2026 until July 29 to 13 issuances totaling 1.95 billion dinars, compared to three issuances during the same period last year totaling 350 million dinars. According to the latest data from the Central Bank, the total holdings of local banks in debt instruments reached approximately 3.25 billion dinars in May.
