Capital Markets Authority Approves Mergers and Acquisitions Worth KD 1.8 Billion Since Its Establishment

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) announced that it has achieved 82% of the targets set in its current strategy, despite only 75% of its time horizon having elapsed, signaling an acceleration in the pace of implementing its programs and initiatives.

In its fifteenth annual report for the fiscal year 2025–2026, the Authority stated that it issued legal opinions on 895 matters, registered 104 cases, and 101 final substantive judgments were rendered, with 97% of them in favor of the Authority.

The report noted that the Authority currently supervises 74 licensed individuals and 238 licensed activities, in addition to 65 crowdfunding systems. It also granted six approvals for debt instrument issuances, comprising bonds and sukuk, with a value exceeding 1.2 billion Kuwaiti dinars, alongside approving five mergers and acquisitions, bringing the cumulative value of these activities to over 1.881 billion dinars.

The issuance of the annual report comes in implementation of Article (25) of Law 7/2010 concerning the establishment of the Capital Markets Authority. It highlights the Authority’s key achievements in legislative, regulatory, supervisory, awareness, and media aspects, along with its efforts to develop its internal work environment and enhance local, regional, and international cooperation. Furthermore, it includes financial data and its vision for the coming years, supporting its goal of developing a capital market that is attractive and supportive of the national economy.

The achievements section occupied the largest portion of the report, detailing the Authority’s work in regulating and supervising securities activities, including legal, regulatory, and supervisory aspects, both office-based and field-based. It also covered monitoring trading, disclosure, and transparency, as well as awareness, communication, and cooperation efforts with local and international entities.

The report also reviewed the development of the internal work environment and the Authority’s future directions under its fourth strategy, which extends until the end of March 2031. Additionally, it presented financial data for the reported year and trading indicators on the Kuwait Stock Exchange during 2025.

Concurrently with the annual report, the CMA issued its second sustainability report for the same fiscal year, in line with its commitment to strengthening governance and sustainability principles in the capital market.

In its sustainability report, the CMA highlighted key initiatives implemented during the past fiscal year to enhance the application of sustainability standards, aligning with sustainable economic development goals and boosting the market’s attractiveness to local and foreign investments.
