Egyptian Petroleum: Dealing with a fire on two gasification and storage vessels

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated that, as part of its immediate monitoring of any emergency incidents, a fire broke out on a gasification vessel and a storage vessel at the Port of Damietta, north of Egypt’s Nile Delta. The situation was handled immediately in accordance with approved emergency and rapid response plans, through the relevant authorities and the site’s firefighting and security teams.

In a statement issued yesterday evening, the ministry added that, upon receiving the report, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi proceeded to the incident site to monitor the situation on the ground, ensure the progress of containment and security operations, and verify that all safety procedures were being implemented and that full coordination was maintained among the various concerned parties until the situation was safely resolved.

The ministry emphasized that the incident resulted in no injuries or human casualties, and that emergency teams continued to work with the relevant technical authorities to complete operations and take necessary measures in accordance with approved standards. Necessary steps are currently being taken to assess the repercussions of the incident.
