Peru's Ambassador: We are keen to expand cooperation with Kuwait
The Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Kuwait, Carlos Jimenez, affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing to strengthen its relations with the State of Kuwait and to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation in cultural, tourism, and economic fields. He praised the bonds of friendship and mutual respect uniting the two countries, emphasizing that cultural activities represent one of the most important means of deepening communication between peoples.
Jimenez, in a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the opening of a photography exhibition organized by the embassy, noted that relations between Kuwait and Peru are witnessing continuous development. He pointed out that the embassy is working to launch more initiatives that introduce the Kuwaiti society to Peruvian culture and its civilizational and natural heritage, thereby contributing to enhancing rapprochement between the two friendly peoples.
He added that culture, arts, and nature form real bridges of communication between countries. Noting that despite the differences in the natural environments of Kuwait and Peru, both countries share a close connection to the sea and a great pride in their maritime heritage, which opens new horizons for cooperation and cultural understanding.
He pointed out that the northern coast of Peru includes protected marine areas hosting rare species of marine life, considering this shared interest in protecting the marine environment as one of the points of convergence between the two countries, despite the geographical distance separating them. He affirmed that the continued organization of cultural events, even in light of current regional circumstances, reflects an atmosphere of security and stability. He noted that culture provides societies with space for dialogue and reflection, alleviates the pressures imposed by crises, and represents a fundamental pillar for development and civilizational openness.
Jimenez clarified that the photography exhibition, attended by several ambassadors, diplomats, and cultural figures, comes within the framework of the embassy’s celebrations marking the 205th anniversary of Peru’s independence. It aims to highlight his country’s exceptional biological diversity, as well as to introduce the Kuwaiti public to aspects of Peru that may not be widely known.
He stated that Peru is among the most environmentally diverse countries in the world, encompassing the Amazon rainforests, the Andes mountain range, and Pacific Ocean coastlines, making it home to thousands of species of birds, insects, and plants, including rare species found nowhere else in the world. He added that protecting this natural heritage is a national priority, as Peru encompasses vast areas of natural reserves overseen by the Ministry of Environment and relevant institutions, with the aim of preserving endangered species and supporting scientific research related to biodiversity.
He noted that the exhibition is not limited to displaying aesthetic images of nature, but carries an awareness message underscoring the importance of preserving the environment and ecological balance, while simultaneously highlighting the civilizational and cultural diversity that characterizes Peru.
