Indonesia: We stand in solidarity with Kuwait regarding Iranian attacks on civilian facilities

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi affirmed her country’s solidarity with the State of Kuwait in response to Iranian attacks on vital civilian infrastructure, stressing that such actions violate the rules of international law.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Jakarta stated in a press release that this position was expressed during a meeting between Minister Retno and Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Khaled Al-Yassin, in which they discussed regional developments amid Iran’s ongoing aggression and violations targeting the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Kuwait and other countries in the region, as well as the resulting regional and international repercussions. The statement quoted Minister Retno emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

On the bilateral level, Minister Retno highlighted the importance of the existing partnership between the two countries, based on mutual respect and shared values, and its role in enhancing efforts toward sustainable construction and development, stressing the need to activate bilateral agreements concluded between the two sides.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Yassin affirmed during the meeting Kuwait’s commitment to developing ties of cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia across various fields, pointing out the importance of strengthening political, economic, and cultural cooperation to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The statement noted that the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Indonesia, and reviewed recent developments in the region and ways to continue coordination on issues of mutual concern.
