Egypt Implements Real Estate Tax Facilitation Measures
- 25% discount on residential units and 10% on non-residential units
- 240 services and 12 million users on the Egypt Digital Platform
Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchk announced on Tuesday the extension of the deadline for submitting real estate tax declarations until the end of next September, granting citizens a new opportunity to benefit from incentives and facilitations via the mobile application.
Kouchk added that the facilitations include a 25% discount on the tax due for residential units and a 10% discount for non-residential units, along with an additional 5% discount when paying into the tax account in amounts ranging from 200 to 1,000 pounds, depending on the type of unit.
He stated that late payment penalties would be waived when settling the principal tax debt until October 2 next year. Family residences valued at less than 8 million pounds will be exempted, with exemption requests submitted electronically alongside the declaration. A single tax declaration will be considered valid for individuals owning multiple units, and electronic receipts will be accepted, aiming to simplify procedures, reduce burdens and obligations, and facilitate processes for citizens.
In a separate development, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy, at a conference launching the service for commercial establishment licenses via the Egypt Digital Platform using the Digital Treasury, stated that the Egypt Digital Platform has become the unified national platform for delivering digital government services. It currently offers more than 240 digital services to citizens and the business sector, with over 12 million users, reflecting growing confidence in digital services and the state’s success in building its integrated system.
He added: “As part of completing the system, the state has successfully connected 105 government entities through the Government Digital Switch, enabling integration with more than 100 government databases. This allows for real-time and secure data exchange in accordance with the highest cybersecurity standards and data governance principles.”
