Japanese man disturbs neighbors with music

Tokyo (AFP) – Japanese police arrested a musician for disturbing his elderly neighbors and depriving them of sleep for more than seven years due to his loud guitar playing, according to police.
A Kyoto police official told Agence France-Presse that Kazunori Yokoi, 61, is suspected of playing dozens of guitars loudly and playing the radio at high volume around the clock since 2019.
His actions caused insomnia and depression among three of his neighbors, aged between 60 and 80, while a fourth developed persistent tinnitus.
The police official explained that a series of official warnings failed to change his behavior, but the four neighbors eventually provided sufficient evidence for police to arrest him on charges related to assault.
Kyodo News quoted one of the neighbors as saying, “It was terrible, as all kinds of noises mixed together throughout the day.”
