Record revenues for Real Madrid despite last season's disappointment

Madrid, AFP - Spanish club Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that it achieved record revenues of 1.221 billion euros ($1.39 billion) during the 2025-2026 football season, despite failing to win any titles.

In a statement, the club said: "Operating revenues, excluding player transfer income, reached 1.221 billion euros, an increase of 3.1 percent compared to the previous fiscal year."

It added: "Real Madrid thus surpassed the 1.2 billion euro threshold for the first time, a figure not yet achieved by any other sports organization in the world, reinforcing the club's position as the highest-revenue-generating entity in the sports sector."

Real Madrid clarified that it posted net profit after taxes of 26 million euros ($30 million), an 8 percent increase compared to the 2024-2025 season.

The increase in revenue from the renovated Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which rose by 11 percent to 363 million euros ($413 million), along with new sponsorship deals, contributed to strengthening the club's financial performance.

Last month, the club appointed its former Portuguese manager José Mourinho to take charge, succeeding Álvaro Arbeloa, following two seasons without winning any major trophies.

The club also completed several signings during the current summer window, including Portuguese international Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella, who recently won the 2026 World Cup with Spain.

According to media reports, the club has reached an agreement to sign Ivorian winger Yamal Djoumadi from German club RB Leipzig. Additionally, Manchester City midfielder and Spain national team captain Rodri are among the names being considered as part of the squad rebuild.
