Education... Towards Global Standards
As the Ministry of Education advances its education reform plan with determined steps and strong resolve derived from the directives of the political leadership, having covered a significant portion of this path, it is working on a parallel track to establish strategic and institutional partnerships that support its direction to develop education in line with “Kuwait Vision 2035.”
In this context, the Ministry signed an agreement on Monday with the Regional Centre for Quality and Excellence in Education of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to broaden the scope of cooperation and exchange expertise, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of education and strengthening the efficiency of the educational system.
In this regard, His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, received the Centre’s Director, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mudaris, and the accompanying delegation, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the Organization in the fields of education and teaching, as well as the exchange of expertise, to contribute to the development of the country’s educational system in accordance with the highest international standards.
For his part, Minister Al-Tabtabaei, in a statement delivered during the signing of the agreement, said that this step stems from the belief that education constitutes the foundation for building society, enhancing competitiveness, and achieving sustainable development. He noted that “the journey of education development enjoys the support and attention of the wise political leadership, which consistently emphasizes that investing in human capital is the most important investment, prompting the Ministry to continue its work, accelerate the pace of reform, and translate these directions into programs and development projects that yield a real impact on the educational ground.”
He affirmed that “the Ministry of Education is proceeding with the development of its educational system in accordance with the Education Reform Plan for the period 2025–2027, which is based on phased implementation, performance measurement, and continuous monitoring.” He pointed out that “the completion rate of the plan has exceeded 75 percent as of July this year, reflecting tangible progress in achieving its targets according to the approved schedule, and underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to advancing development programs through an institutional methodology based on performance measurement, continuous improvement, and enhancing the quality of educational outputs.”
He also highlighted “the Ministry’s keenness to benefit from regional and international experiences, and to expand cooperation with educational and research institutions, thereby contributing to policy development, knowledge transfer, and building national capacities, as well as leveraging data and studies to support educational decision-making.”
For his part, Dr. Al-Mudaris affirmed that “the signing of the agreement comes at a time when educational transformations are accelerating globally due to technology and artificial intelligence, highlighting the need to strengthen effective strategic partnerships to ensure the sustainability of educational excellence.”
