Launch of the first national system for measuring and improving environmental performance

In this context, Dr. Al-Faleh told KUNA, while presiding over and attending the signing of the memorandum at the Kuwait Environment Public Authority building on Monday, that the memorandum lays the foundation for a new phase of environmental work, shifting entities from public awareness to institutional measurement based on data, indicators, and periodic reports.

She added that what cannot be measured cannot be managed; therefore, this system is launched with indicators that document performance and support decision-making, while engaging youth as active partners in designing, implementing, and disseminating the impact of environmental initiatives within society.

He noted that this cooperation embodies integration among government entities and translates national sustainability goals into executable and measurable programs, thereby enhancing youth participation and improving the operational efficiency of youth and sports facilities.

Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma emphasized that the memorandum includes the launch of the “Sustainability Ambassadors” program, aimed at qualifying and training youth affiliated with clubs, centers, and youth and sports facilities on the principles of environmental sustainability, empowering them to support environmental initiatives, raise awareness, and participate in related activities as sustainability ambassadors in their communities. He pointed out that a joint committee from both entities will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the memorandum, approving action plans, tracking performance indicators, overseeing the “Sustainability Ambassadors” program, studying youth initiatives and ideas related to sustainability, and coordinating their implementation.
