Iraq: We will not allow the use of our territory for any aggression targeting fraternal or friendly countries

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on Monday evening that Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali al-Zoubi, “directed the relevant security authorities to investigate the statement issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense, which alleged that the Kingdom was targeted by drones launched from Iraqi territory, according to information provided by the Saudi side.”

The agency quoted the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, as saying that “the Iraqi government reaffirms its constitutional and steadfast commitment to the principles of good neighborliness, and to ensuring that Iraqi territory is not used as a transit route or launching pad for any attack targeting sisterly or friendly countries. It is gathering evidence and information and will take legal action against anyone proven to be involved in such acts, in accordance with the findings of the investigations.”

The spokesperson noted that “the Iraqi government reaffirms that its relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are solid and deep-rooted fraternal ties, based on mutual respect, shared interests, and the principles of good neighborliness. It will not allow any attempt to undermine or harm these relations, and will continue to work resolutely to protect Iraq’s security and enhance its sovereignty, as well as to preserve the security and stability of its Arab and regional neighborhood.”
