Kuwaiti-Emirati cooperation to combat human trafficking

Decree No. 113 of 2026 includes a memorandum of understanding between the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Justice (the Standing National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling), and the Government of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, in the field of cooperation to combat human trafficking.

The decree, which was published in the official gazette “Kuwait Al-Yawm” in its Sunday edition, stated that “this agreement comes from the recognition by both parties of the importance of cooperation between the competent authorities in the two countries to combat human trafficking.” The areas of cooperation include “exchanging best practices in combating human trafficking, holding meetings to discuss areas of cooperation and work to enhance efforts to combat human trafficking, exchanging skills, knowledge, and expertise related to the prevention of human trafficking, exchanging information on national legislation related to combating human trafficking and protecting its victims, and working to build the capacities of national personnel in the fields of combating trafficking, prosecuting perpetrators, and protecting victims, as well as transferring national expertise in this regard, and working to exchange information on emerging criminal methods in the field of human trafficking crimes, and other forms of cooperation agreed upon by the two parties during the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, to be agreed upon by both parties through diplomatic channels.”
