"New York Post": US plan to breach Iran's nuclear facilities

The New York Post reported that the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) is considering a highly complex military scenario to seize or destroy Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium inside fortified nuclear facilities, should diplomatic efforts fail to reach an agreement on the nuclear program.

According to the report, potential targets include the Fordow and Isfahan facilities, with the operation described as possibly the most complex military undertaking in modern history due to the fortified nature and vast scale of the sites.

The report noted that U.S. forces would need to establish a security perimeter around the facilities, secure supply and evacuation routes, and simultaneously clear mines and fortifications believed to have been reinforced by Iran at certain nuclear sites.

Citing Joseph Rogers, deputy director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the newspaper stated that eliminating the nuclear stockpile might require resorting to military action if negotiations collapse, describing the mission as potentially “the most complex in military history.”

The report added that the Mount Alborz facility near Natanz remains a potential target, with its destruction considered more feasible than attempting to seize its contents, given Iran’s increasing fortifications and defensive measures.
