Arsenal Continues Pursuit of Gueimares

Arsenal, the English Premier League champions, continue their efforts to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United, but the club is preparing to reject the initial expected offer from “the Gunners,” valued at £70 million.

According to reports, Guimarães has informed Newcastle’s management of his desire to leave this summer, taking advantage of Arsenal’s serious interest in signing him.

In this context, the British newspaper Evening Standard reported that communication between the two clubs remains limited and is conducted through intermediaries, while Arsenal prepares to submit an offer of £70 million.

However, Newcastle has no intention of entering negotiations at that figure, valuing their Brazilian star at more than £80 million, and will not consider any offer below that amount.

Conversely, personal terms do not appear to be an obstacle, as Guimarães is reportedly keen on moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Newcastle endured a difficult summer following the departure of several of its key players, including English international Anthony Gordon to Spanish club Barcelona, and Italian Sandro Tonali to Tottenham in a deal worth £100 million.

This indicates that the club still considers Guimarães an essential part of its future.

Guimarães, 28, is expected to return to Newcastle’s training sessions next week before traveling with the team to Spain for the pre-season camp.

Although Alexander Isak resorted to a training strike last summer to facilitate his move to Liverpool, reports suggest that Guimarães does not plan to take the same step.

During the last season, Guimarães scored nine goals in the English Premier League, the highest goal tally among all Newcastle players.

Arsenal views the Brazilian international as the ideal piece to strengthen their midfield, as the team seeks to retain the Premier League title and advance toward winning the UEFA Champions League.
