Aqila: London Camp... A 'Competitive Opportunity' for Players

The Kuwait national football team began its preparations today, Saturday, in the British capital, London, a day after arriving there to hold a training camp that will run until August 15 next year in preparation for the new season.

Adel Aqela, deputy president of the Kuwait Football Association, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth arrival of the delegation to their accommodation and the facilities provided by the club’s management, aimed at maximizing the benefits of the camp.

Aqela noted that the club’s leadership, starting with honorary president Marzouq Al-Ghanim, emphasized the need for the “Whites” to undergo proper preparation following their successes in the previous season. He pointed out that the team will play several friendly matches during the camp, including one against Milton Keynes Dons, and thanked Kuwait Club treasurer Fahad Al-Ghanim, one of the owners of the English club, for his initiative in organizing the match.

Aqela stressed that the camp represents a significant opportunity for players to prove their worth amid intense competition for places, with more than one player vying for the same position under the watch of the new technical staff led by Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, who replaced former Montenegrin manager Nebojsa Jovovic.

Meanwhile, in their camp in Yalova, Turkey, Al-Qadsiah SC continued their training for the second consecutive day, with morning sessions at the health club and evening sessions at the stadium.

It is expected that the “Yellow” team has concluded negotiations with Mauritanian international Sidi Bouna Ammar (27), who joins from the Libyan league.

On another front, Al-Qadsiah’s management approved the loan of defender Ahmed Al-Rashidi to Al-Nassr until the end of the new season.

The “Green” team lost 1-3 to Adana Demirspor, who were promoted to the Turkish Super League next season, in their first friendly match of the camp on Thursday.

After taking the lead through a goal from defender Juma Aboud, who returned from injury, the team conceded three goals in the second half.

Saplic is expected to have held meetings with the players to explain the mistakes that accompanied their performance in the match and attempt to correct them during training sessions.
