More than 70 diverse events at 'Summer Cultural 18'
The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters will launch the events of the 18th edition of the “Summer Cultural Festival” from August 5 to 30 next year, under the slogan “We Return Stronger Through Culture.” The festival presents a rich program comprising more than 70 cultural, artistic, educational, and entertainment activities, distributed across morning and evening sessions, with the participation of a distinguished group of artists, writers, intellectuals, and academics.
The festival aims to revitalize cultural activity during the summer season, providing opportunities for various segments of society to participate in programs that enrich knowledge and nurture talents, while also enhancing cultural presence across all facilities of the National Council.
The events will kick off with an opening ceremony at the Drama Theater in the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, featuring a musical evening titled “Samari with Al-Amari,” performed by artist Salman Al-Amari alongside the Al-Fan Al-Aseel band. The festival will conclude on August 30 with a musical concert titled “Arab Artists Who Sang in Love for Kuwait,” conducted by Maestro Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajyan.
The program also includes exhibitions of books, visual arts, and photographs, alongside specialized exhibitions running throughout the festival days. Additionally, there will be theatrical performances for adults and children, poetic and musical evenings, and dialogue sessions discussing literature, cinema, artificial intelligence, and the arts. The schedule further features film screenings and specialized training workshops in creative writing, including drawing, ceramics, printing, puppet making, embroidery, Arabic calligraphy, languages, short film production, and public speaking and presentation skills.
The festival dedicates a wide space for children and youth through the “Creators Club,” which offers a series of creative workshops and activities extending throughout the festival period, along with storytelling and reading workshops and educational programs aimed at developing skills and refining talents.
Events will be held at various cultural sites affiliated with the National Council, such as the Kuwait National Library, the Jaber Cultural Center, Khowan Theater, Bayt Al-Saddu, the Modern Art Museum, the American Cultural Center, the Writers Association, the Scientific Center, Al Hamra Tower, The Avenues Mall, the Capital Mall, and other centers, ensuring that activities reach the broadest possible audience.
