Kuwait's Humanitarian Diplomacy: Efficiency and Rapid Response to Crises
Building on a steadfast commitment to providing assistance to those affected and alleviating their suffering, the State of Kuwait has continued its relief and development efforts through its various charitable arms, demonstrating the efficiency of its humanitarian diplomacy and its capacity for rapid response to complex crises through parallel channels.
Through its institutions and charitable associations, Kuwait has kept pace with the repercussions of humanitarian crises in various parts of the world, driven by its commitment to its international responsibilities as a hub for humanitarian action, dedicating its resources to urgent interventions aimed at saving lives in disaster-stricken areas.
From the Gaza Strip, through shelter points in the heart of Africa, to Yemen, Kuwait’s map of humanitarian giving extends to form a safety net for communities affected by conflicts, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the Kuwaiti vision in transitioning from emergency relief to sustainable development.
The map of Kuwaiti aid documents the efficiency of field coordination between Kuwaiti donor entities and local and international partners, highlighting the tangible impact of vital projects recently launched, most notably milk distribution campaigns for infants in Gaza, food baskets for Sudanese refugees in Chad and Uganda, and support for the health sector in Yemen. This underscores that Kuwaiti support transcends geographical boundaries to meet pure humanitarian needs wherever they exist.
In Gaza, Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Al-Isalah Social Association, announced the implementation of a humanitarian project to distribute more than 3,000 bottles of milk for infants in the Strip, as part of its relief efforts aimed at supporting affected families and mitigating the repercussions of the humanitarian situation in the area.
Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Namaa, stated in a press comment that the project targeted infants in the most needy areas, in coordination with field teams to ensure that milk bottles reached families suffering from a severe shortage of basic food needs amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
In Uganda, Namaa announced the distribution of 250 food baskets to Sudanese refugee families, noting that each basket is sufficient for a family of five for one month and includes basic food items, thereby helping to alleviate living burdens and preserve the dignity of beneficiaries.
Waleed Al-Kandari, Director of Public Relations and Media at Namaa, told KUNA that Sudanese refugee families are facing difficult humanitarian conditions after being forced to leave their homes and sources of livelihood, adding that securing food has become one of the most prominent challenges they face given their reliance on humanitarian aid.
In Chad, Al-Tanmiya Charity Association launched the “Sahab Al-Joud 27” convoy, which included a number of diverse humanitarian activities, to support Sudanese refugees and the most needy families.
Mosaab Al-Otaibi, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Association, told KUNA that the convoy is an extension of Kuwait’s humanitarian message and a manifestation of the Association’s commitment to continuing its relief and development efforts despite current challenges and circumstances, in accordance with the regulations of Kuwaiti charitable work and official procedures, thereby enhancing governance and transparency in the implementation of humanitarian projects.
In Yemen, Al-Najah Charity Association handed over four modern dialysis machines and a cooling device to the hemodialysis center at the Republican Hospital in Taiz Governorate, supported by a Kuwaiti philanthropist, as part of the “Kuwait is by Your Side” campaign in its 12th consecutive year.
Fouad Al-Faqih, director of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor office in Taiz Governorate, told KUNA that this humanitarian initiative represents a qualitative addition to Taiz’s health sector, as it provides modern equipment that helps increase the capacity of the dialysis center, enabling it to accommodate a larger number of patients and reduce waiting times for dialysis sessions.
He expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by Kuwait to the Yemeni people across various humanitarian and developmental sectors, which contributes to alleviating their suffering.
For his part, Fuad Al-Haddad, director of Al-Jumhouri Hospital, praised the pioneering humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in supporting the health sector, noting that this initiative addresses a significant aspect of the needs of kidney failure patients and reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly peoples.
In turn, Abdulraouf Al-Yousfi, president of the Ruh Al-Ataa Development Foundation, which is implementing the project, expressed his profound appreciation for this humanitarian support, stating that what Kuwait provides through its charitable institutions reflects its civilizational and humanitarian mission and embodies its steadfast approach to supporting brothers and alleviating the suffering of those in need, particularly in the health sector.
