The treacherous aggression against the country continued, reaching its despicable attacks to border crossings when it targeted the Al-Abdali crossing on Thursday with drones, causing material damage and sparking a fire that firefighting teams managed to control and extinguish.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, announced that the Al-Abdali border crossing was repeatedly targeted by hostile drones on Thursday, resulting in material damage without any reported human casualties.
Al-Atwan stated in a Ministry of Defense statement that competent authorities immediately began dealing with the incident upon its occurrence and took necessary measures in coordination with relevant entities.
For his part, the official spokesperson for the General Fire Force, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, announced that firefighting teams in the As-Sabiyah and Al-Abdali centers managed to control a fire that broke out at the Al-Abdali border crossing after it was targeted by hostile drones. In a press statement, he noted that firefighting teams began dealing with the fire immediately upon arrival, completing the firefighting and control operations, and confirmed that no human casualties were recorded, as the incident was limited to material losses.
The General Staff of the Army had announced in the middle of the night between Wednesday and Thursday that air defenses repelled hostile drone attacks following the despicable Iranian aggression. It called on everyone to adhere to safety and security instructions issued by competent authorities.
Politically, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and strongest rejection of the ongoing despicable aggression launched by Iran and its proxies against the country, which today targeted the Al-Abdali border crossing through a number of hostile drone attacks. This constitutes a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, a direct threat to its security and stability, and a serious breach of international law rules, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817. The Ministry emphasized in a statement that “persisting in continuing these blatant and repeated attacks constitutes a serious escalation and a direct threat to regional security and stability, reflecting a systematic hostile approach that is unjustifiable and unacceptable.” It reiterated Kuwait’s firm commitment to its full and inherent right to self-defense, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, and to taking all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its territory and resources, and preserve its security and stability.
Alongside the intensification of Iranian aggression, condemnations and rejections continued from Arab countries and regional organizations. The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks that targeted the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with missiles and drones.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a declaration that these attacks represent a blatant violation of the sovereignty of sister states and a threat to their security and stability. It renewed the UAE’s full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, affirming its support for all measures aimed at preserving their security and stability.
For his part, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Taha expressed his strong condemnation of the ongoing Iranian aggression targeting several member states of the Organization, including the recent attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, affirming that they constitute a blatant and irresponsible violation of the Organization’s Charter and principles.
In a statement, Taha said that these attacks contradict the rules and resolutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which affirm the non-aggression against neighboring states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and the pursuit of their security and stability. He emphasized that such practices are incompatible with the spirit of Islamic solidarity on which the organization is founded.
The Secretary-General reiterated his full solidarity with and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirming the organization’s backing for all measures taken by these countries to safeguard their security, stability, and territorial integrity.
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in a statement, expressed its firm rejection of any aggression that infringes upon the sovereignty of states or threatens their territorial integrity, stressing that such acts contribute to undermining regional security and stability and expanding the circle of tension, thereby affecting peace efforts and initiatives in the region. The Sudanese government reiterated its full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq, affirming its support for all measures aimed at preserving the security, stability, and sovereignty of these countries.
In a statement, the General Secretariat of the Council noted that the Council is closely monitoring the continuous aggressive actions carried out by Iran and its proxies in the region, through attempts to target ships and threaten the security of maritime navigation, freedom of international trade, and global energy sources in the Strait of Hormuz, the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, as well as the systematic hostile practices targeting Arab states in the region with ballistic missiles and drones.
The statement stressed that these repeated attacks constitute a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law and the principles of good neighborliness, and undermine efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region. It affirmed the Council’s full solidarity with Arab states in the face of these hostile acts, and its absolute support for all measures they undertake to confront these threats and protect their interests, security, stability, territorial integrity, citizens, and residents.
