"Encouraging Investment": Launch of Starlink Enhances Digital Infrastructure

The Direct Investment Promotion Authority announced the launch of Starlink’s satellite internet services in Kuwait, a new step toward strengthening the digital infrastructure to expand internet access and support digital transformation and innovation.

The Authority clarified via its official account on the X platform that the launch of Starlink services represents a new addition to Kuwait’s digital communications ecosystem, enhancing the provision of advanced connectivity solutions based on the latest global technologies.

Last March, Starlink officially made its satellite internet service available in Kuwait through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites, providing high-speed connectivity without relying on traditional terrestrial infrastructure.

The Starlink system relies on thousands of satellites orbiting in low-Earth orbit at an altitude of approximately 550 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, enabling high-speed internet services with low latency. Users require a special receiving device, known as a Starlink dish, installed in an open location to connect to the satellites and relay the service to a router inside the home or office.

SMA X offers connection packages with speeds exceeding 300 megabits per second, with latency ranging between 20 and 40 milliseconds, along with delivery, installation, and local technical support services available around the clock.
