Saudi banks' profits grow by 8.2% to touch SAR 25 billion in the second quarter

Arabic - Saudi banks listed on the Saudi stock exchange, Tadawul, recorded record profits during the second quarter of 2026, on an annual basis, driven by profit increases across all banks, led by the National Commercial Bank and Al Rajhi Bank, supported by rising financing and investment revenues and continued growth in loan portfolios.

Profits of 10 listed banks increased by 8.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, reaching SAR 24.87 billion after zakat and tax, compared to SAR 22.98 billion in the same quarter of 2025.

Al Rajhi Bank topped the list of most profitable banks in the second quarter of 2026 on a year-on-year basis, with strong profits exceeding SAR 7 billion, representing a 14 percent growth compared to the second quarter of 2025.

The rise in Al Rajhi Bank’s profits resulted from a 13.3 percent increase in total operating income, primarily due to higher net income from financing and investments, banking service fees, and foreign currency exchange income.

Profits at the National Commercial Bank rose by 7.6 percent to SAR 6.6 billion, supported by an 11.3 percent increase in total operating income to SAR 10.6 billion, driven by an 11.4 percent rise in net income from financing and investments, a 34 percent increase in total investment income gains, and a 3.3 percent rise in net foreign currency exchange income.

Al Rajhi Bank and the National Commercial Bank accounted for approximately 55 percent of the total profits of listed banks in the second quarter of this year.

In third place came Riyad Bank, with a 2 percent growth and net profit attributable to shareholders of SAR 2.65 billion, followed by the First Saudi Bank, with a 9.6 percent growth and net profit of SAR 2.33 billion.
