No Impunity... A Gulf Message to Iran

In a unified Gulf statement from Geneva, Kuwait emphasized that Gulf and Arab solidarity would remain steadfast, and that unity of destiny and position is the foundation for confronting the egregious Iranian aggression. It stressed that the deliberate targeting of vital facilities and civilian infrastructure has transcended all international norms and conventions, necessitating a firm international stance that deters attacks and activates international accountability mechanisms.

This came in a statement by Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hin, to KUNA news agency, following an emergency meeting held in Geneva for ambassadors and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, at Kuwait’s request, to discuss rapid developments and highly critical regional conditions.

Al-Hin stressed that Iran’s aggressive behavior has reached unprecedented levels of escalation and deliberate disregard for international laws and conventions, through the direct and intentional targeting of vital facilities and civilian infrastructure, particularly electricity generation and water desalination plants, which constitute the lifeline for the population. This endangers the lives and safety of civilians and threatens regional stability.

Condemning this systematic targeting and affirming Kuwait’s continued diplomatic and legal efforts to counter this aggression, Ambassador Al-Hin stressed that the security of GCC and sister Arab states constitutes an indivisible whole, and that any infringement on their security and stability constitutes a direct attack on Gulf and Arab national security. This necessitates a firm international stance to deter such attacks and put an end to their continuation.

He called on the international community, the Security Council, and all UN bodies to assume their legal, moral, and historical responsibilities, and to take immediate action to halt these attacks and activate international accountability mechanisms to ensure that perpetrators are not left unpunished.

He affirmed that Gulf and Arab solidarity would remain steadfast, and that unity of destiny and position would continue to be the cornerstone in confronting all threats to the security and stability of the countries in the region.
