Louvre Hall Reopens Without Exhibits

Paris (AFP) – The hall that was the site of a major theft at the Louvre Museum in the French capital last October reopened today, becoming a new attraction for tourists despite the removal of its valuable exhibits.

The “Apollo Gallery,” one of the most luxurious and ornate halls in the world’s most visited museum, was previously renowned for displaying the French Crown Jewels.

However, following the theft of eight pieces valued at around $100 million in a daylight robbery last year, the hall gained worldwide fame as the scene of one of the largest heists in recent times.

Jenny Lee, a 34-year-old Korean tour guide, told AFP, “It is an honor to be here on the first day, early in the morning,” considering the robbery “a new part of the Apollo Gallery’s history.”
