Van Bomel Close to Coaching Belgium

The Belgian newspaper De Nieuwsblad reported on Wednesday that 49-year-old Van Bommel is likely to sign a contract with the Belgian Football Association extending until the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament.

Van Bommel previously managed PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, and Royal Antwerp, where he won the Belgian league and cup double.

Van Bommel has not managed any club since 2024. He will succeed former French coach of the Red Devils, Rudi Garcia, who left his post after the team’s exit in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
