Foden extends his contract with Manchester City

London, AFP – Manchester City striker Phil Foden has extended his contract with the English club until 2030.

The new deal provides the English international with significant stability following a turbulent period in his career, while also providing a morale boost for his new Italian manager, Enzo Maresca.

Foden, 26, experienced a dip in form during a spell marked by injuries that affected his playing time, and he was also left out of England’s squad for the last World Cup.

His contract was originally set to expire at the end of next season, but the new agreement, which includes an option to extend for an additional year, has secured his long-term future.

After the extension, Foden said: “Linking my future to Manchester City means everything to me. Playing for this club has always been what I wanted, and wearing this shirt is a great honor for me.”

Since being promoted from the club’s academy to the first team, Foden has won six Premier League titles with City, one UEFA Champions League title, two FA Cups, and five League Cups.

Foden is now the most decorated player in Manchester City’s history, alongside Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva and John Stones, who both left the club at the end of last season. He has scored 110 goals in 369 appearances for the club.
