Erdogan intervenes in Besiktas negotiations with Mohamed Salah

Events at the Turkish football club Besiktas have unfolded rapidly amid reports that signing Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has moved beyond mere sporting ambition, with prominent figures in Turkey closely monitoring the situation.

The Turkish newspaper Sozcu reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally intervened in the details of the deal, asking Besiktas president Serdar Adali for comprehensive updates on the progress of negotiations with the Egyptian star. Erdogan is personally following the proposed transfer of Salah to Besiktas.

Club officials believe that indirect government support could pave the way to overcoming the massive financial hurdles required for a deal of this magnitude. Besiktas is not content with pursuing domestic titles alone; it also aims for continental dominance.

The same newspaper stated that Turkish journalist and broadcaster Erdogan Agtas publicly confirmed that Salah would arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday to finalize the last details of his contract with Besiktas. If completed, the deal would become the largest transfer in the history of the Turkish league in terms of market value and fan interest.
