Basketball Youth to Doha

The Kuwait national under-18 men’s basketball team will depart tomorrow morning, Thursday, for the Qatari capital, Doha, to participate in the Gulf Youth Championship, scheduled to take place from July 25 to 30, which also serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup finals.
The tournament will be held in a single-round league format, with the top two teams advancing to the Asian Championship, to be hosted in Hyderabad, India.
The national team held a two-week training camp in Cairo in preparation for the tournament, during which it played several friendly matches against the Jordanian and Egyptian national teams, followed by a game against a Cairo clubs all-star side. The team concluded its friendly schedule with a match against Al-Zamalek before returning to Kuwait to resume training at the Union Hall within the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex in Sabah Al-Salem.
The championship was originally scheduled to take place from July 17 to 22 but was postponed until next Saturday due to security conditions in the region.
The organizing committee of the tournament has released the match schedule. The national team will begin its campaign on July 25 against Oman, followed by a match against Bahrain on July 26, and a game against Qatar on July 27. The team will conclude its group stage matches against Saudi Arabia on July 29.
