A Syrian source to "Al-Kuwait": Damascus prepares to move against Hezbollah

A senior Syrian security source told Israel’s Kan broadcaster that despite President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s rejection of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal, plans against Hezbollah are being developed behind the scenes and will be implemented when necessary.

The source emphasized that “there is a gap between what is said publicly and what is happening behind the scenes.”

He added that directives issued to senior levels of the Syrian security establishment call for taking action against any Hezbollah presence on the ground and thwarting it.

Over the past period, Trump has stated more than once that al-Sharaa is the most suitable party to deal with Hezbollah, rather than Israel.

In Manila, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking on the sidelines of his participation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting yesterday, said that “the Syrian authorities do not like Hezbollah. It is an enemy of the new Syrian government and is trying to undermine its efforts.”
