Data from the Public Authority for Civil Information revealed that Kuwait’s total population reached approximately 5.31 million by the end of June 2026. This includes 1.56 million Kuwaiti citizens, representing 30 percent of the total population, and 3.74 million non-Kuwaiti residents, accounting for 70 percent of the demographic composition.

According to the data, Indians ranked second in population size with approximately 1.06 million residents (20 percent), followed by Egyptians in third place with around 670,000 (13 percent). Bangladeshis ranked fourth with 333,060 residents (6 percent), Filipinos fifth with 226,500 (4 percent), Syrians sixth with 201,500 (4 percent), Sri Lankans seventh with 197,400 (4 percent), and Nepalis eighth with 186,600 (4 percent). They were followed by Saudis with 155,500 (3 percent), and Pakistanis in tenth place with 105,700 (2 percent).

Regarding age demographics, the population under 15 years old stood at approximately 870,600, or 16 percent of the total. This group is considered outside the labor force according to international standards. The population aged 15 to 64 numbered approximately 4.28 million, representing 81 percent, and is classified as the productive age group. Meanwhile, those over 65 years old totaled approximately 158,200, or 3 percent.

In terms of housing patterns, approximately 4.21 million residents lived in private households, while around 1.09 million individuals resided in collective households.

Concerning the labor market, the data indicated that the total number of workers in the country reached approximately 3.264 million, representing 61 percent of the total population. Among them, expatriate workers in the labor force numbered approximately 2.8 million, equivalent to 75 percent of all expatriates in the country.

The distribution of workers by nationality was as follows: India 28.8 percent, Egypt 14.6 percent, Kuwait 14.2 percent, Bangladesh 9.9 percent, Philippines 6.6 percent, Sri Lanka 5.8 percent, Nepal 5.7 percent, Syria 2.3 percent, Pakistan 2.3 percent, and Jordan 1 percent.

Kuwaitis accounted for approximately 32 percent of the total citizen population within the labor force, with an equal distribution between males and females at 50 percent each.

According to labor force participation rates by nationality, the percentage of Indians in the labor force was 88 percent, Egyptians 71 percent, Bangladeshis 97 percent, Filipinos 95 percent, Syrians 38 percent, Sri Lankans 96 percent, Nepalis 99 percent, Saudis 23 percent, and Pakistanis 72 percent.

The total number of employees in the public and private sectors combined reached approximately 2.37 million, including 531,600 in the public sector and 1.84 million in the private sector. Employed individuals represented approximately 45 percent of the total population.

According to the distribution of workers in the private sector by nationality, Indians accounted for 30.7%, Egyptians for 23.6%, Bangladeshis for 11.2%, Nepalis for 6.2%, Filipinos for 3.9%, Pakistanis for 3.7%, and Jordanians for 1.5%.

In the public sector, Kuwaitis accounted for 74.7%, Egyptians for 7.1%, Indians for 5.1%, Bangladeshis for 1.7%, and Pakistanis for 1.2%.

Regarding domestic workers, the Authority reported that the total number reached approximately 883,300, representing 27% of the total workforce in the country and 17% of the total population. Women constituted about 57.7% of the domestic workforce.

The distribution of domestic workers by nationality was as follows: Indians 39%, Sri Lankans 17.9%, Filipinos 17.1%, Bangladeshis 12.1%, Nepalis 7.8%, Beninians 1.8%, Ethiopians 2.5%, Malians 0.4%, and Sudanese 0.2%.

Data from the Public Authority for Civil Information indicated the population distribution in Kuwait by gender, with males numbering approximately 3.21 million, representing 60% of the population, while females numbered approximately 2.1 million, accounting for 40%.
