Al-Anazi asks the Municipality about the level of services in industrial and craft areas

Kuwait National Assembly member Abdullah Al-Anzi called for clarification on the coordination mechanisms between the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Industry regarding the level of municipal services in industrial and craft zones, through three questions addressing the distribution of responsibilities, the existence of joint committees, and the evaluation of services and infrastructure.

This came in the context of three questions posed by Al-Anzi to the municipal executive body, concerning the level of municipal services and the coordination mechanism in industrial and craft areas under the supervision of the Public Authority for Industry. He emphasized that these inquiries stem from the importance of enhancing integration and coordination among relevant government entities to provide the best possible services in industrial and craft zones.

Al-Anzi stated that “the Industry Authority is the competent government body responsible for planning, establishing, managing, and developing industrial and craft zones in Kuwait. This responsibility was assigned to it to achieve several strategic objectives, foremost among them regulating industrial and craft activities, providing an attractive investment environment, supporting the private sector, diversifying income sources, enhancing the contribution of the industrial sector to the national economy, and improving the efficiency of infrastructure and services in these areas.”

He added that the Authority supervises all industrial and craft zones across various governorates of the country, which are among the most important economic and developmental facilities. They serve as a fundamental pillar for supporting the national economy, encouraging investment, creating job opportunities, increasing public revenues for the state, as well as playing a role in supporting sustainable development and stimulating industrial and craft activities.

Al-Anzi inquired about the existing coordination mechanism between the “Industry Authority” and the “Municipality” regarding municipal services within all industrial and craft zones, particularly concerning general cleanliness, waste removal, and maintaining the urban aesthetic of these areas.

He also asked whether there are joint committees or an official coordination mechanism between the Authority and the Municipality to define responsibilities and address observations related to municipal services, and whether the Municipality has coordinated with the Authority, as the supervisory body for all industrial and craft zones, to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the level of municipal services and infrastructure.
