Iran’s hand of treachery continued its aggression against Kuwait’s territory and interests. On Monday evening, the oil tanker “Kivan” was targeted while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries to several crew members. On Tuesday, for the fourth consecutive day, several power and water desalination stations were targeted.
Al-Mushaan emphasized that “this blatant attack occurs amid the escalation of the unjust aggression launched by Iran against the State of Kuwait since February 28, 2026, including inflammatory and provocative statements issued by the Iranian side. It constitutes a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests, and a threat to the security and freedom of international navigation, as well as a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.”
He reiterated Kuwait’s call for Iran to immediately halt its unlawful attacks, stressing that Kuwait reserves the right to take necessary measures, and holding Iran fully responsible for this attack and its ongoing aggression against Kuwait.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s condemnation, in the strongest terms, of Iran’s unjust and ongoing attacks against the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, which represent a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817. The Ministry affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Bahrain, standing by its side and supporting it in all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and stability.
Continuing Iran’s treachery, the aggression targeted several power and water desalination stations for the fourth consecutive day. The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy stated in a press release that “the attack resulted in fires breaking out at several facilities of these stations. Emergency teams affiliated with the Ministry, in coordination with the General Fireforce and security authorities, immediately responded to the incidents, successfully containing and extinguishing the fires.”
The statement noted that “damages caused by the attacks have been assessed, with teams working to implement damage repair plans and rehabilitate facilities.” It added that “several generation units were taken out of service in accordance with standard precautionary operational procedures, to ensure the safety of equipment and the stability of both the electrical and water systems.” The Ministry affirmed that it would continue to keep the public informed of developments as they occur through its official channels.
