Kuwait and the Gulf University expand educational and health partnerships
Kuwait and the Gulf University in Bahrain have reaffirmed the importance of strengthening Gulf cooperation in the fields of higher education and health, by expanding academic and research partnerships and exchanging expertise, thereby contributing to the development of national competencies, enhancing the quality of education and health services, and supporting the development process in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
This came during two separate meetings held by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, on the one hand, and Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, on the other, with a delegation from the Gulf University in Bahrain, led by the university’s president, Dr. Saad Al-Fahid.
In a statement, the Ministry of Higher Education noted that Dr. Al-Jalal emphasized, during his reception of the president of the Gulf University and the accompanying delegation, that integration among higher education institutions in the GCC countries is a crucial pillar for building an advanced educational system capable of keeping pace with global changes.
Dr. Al-Jalal stressed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperative ties with Gulf universities, contributing to the development of the higher education and scientific research system, exchanging expertise and successful experiences, and enhancing academic partnerships that serve students and elevate the quality of educational outcomes.
For his part, Dr. Al-Fahid praised the fraternal relations uniting Gulf academic institutions, as well as the achievements and academic programs realized, including the accomplishments of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Chair in the field of microbiology.
Dr. Al-Fahid expressed the university’s aspiration to enhance this cooperation with Kuwait’s Ministry of Higher Education, in a manner that realizes shared interests and supports the advancement of higher education in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and a member of the university’s board of trustees, Dr. Badr Al-Basiri, along with several officials from both sides.
In a related development, Minister Al-Awadi discussed with Dr. Al-Fahid and the university delegation ways to enhance joint cooperation and develop partnerships in health and academic areas of mutual interest.
The Ministry of Health stated in a press release that the meeting addressed prospects for cooperation in medical education, training, scientific research, capacity building, and the development of health competencies, alongside the exchange of expertise, all aimed at supporting the quality of health services, strengthening integration between academic and health institutions, and serving the health development process in the GCC countries.
