54.7 million dinars in profits for Boubyan in the first half of 2026

Boubyan Bank announced its financial results for the first half of the current year, reporting net profits of KD 54.7 million, representing a 5% growth, with earnings per share of 10.95 fils. Operating profits reached KD 72.6 million, up by 8%. Total assets amounted to KD 10.6 billion, a 6% increase compared to the previous year, while the financing portfolio reached KD 8.1 billion, reflecting an 8% growth rate.
Commenting on the financial results, Abdulaziz Abdullah Duhaish Al-Shaie, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Boubyan, stated: “The results achieved by the bank during the first half of the current year reflect the strength of the foundations underpinning the bank’s business model, and its ability to continue delivering balanced performance despite the geopolitical developments and economic challenges witnessed in the region, which have impacted various sectors, including the banking sector.”
He added that these results are the outcome of a prudent management approach focused on strengthening the financial position, maintaining disciplined risk management, and preserving strong levels of liquidity and capital, alongside adopting a long-term strategic vision that balances sustainable growth with seizing specific opportunities. This strategy supports the bank’s ability to continue creating added value for shareholders, customers, partners, employees, and the communities in which it operates.
Al-Shaie clarified that the recent reaffirmation of the bank’s credit rating by global agency Moody’s, with a stable outlook, serves as further confirmation of the bank’s creditworthiness resilience. It reflects confidence in the strength of its financial position, the quality of its assets, the efficiency of its risk management, as well as its adaptability to economic changes and its capacity to sustain performance.
He noted that this strong performance was accompanied by continued momentum in developing products and services, enhancing the customer experience across various channels, and achieving several local, regional, and international accolades that underscore Boubyan’s position and leadership in innovation, digital banking, and Islamic finance.
Al-Shaie emphasized that the Board of Directors looks confidently and optimistically toward the future, guided by a clear strategy and solid financial foundations, while continuing to reinforce principles of governance and sound management. This ensures the ability to achieve sustainable growth and consolidate the bank’s position as one of the leading Islamic banking institutions in Kuwait and the region.

Al-Majid clarified that the launch of the Boubyan AI «Transformation» program marks a significant milestone in the bank’s journey toward institutional transformation in artificial intelligence, serving as a natural extension of its continuous investments in developing advanced digital infrastructure and enhancing institutional capabilities. This enables the bank to transition to a new phase of AI deployment, guided by a clear, multi-year roadmap.

During the first half of the year, Boubyan continued to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem through the «Empower by Boubyan» initiative, organizing a series of discussion panels and mentoring sessions that brought together members of the initiative’s advisory board with a select group of participating tech startups. The aim was to exchange expertise and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs.
These sessions align with the initiative’s pillar of mentoring and guidance, reflecting the bank’s approach to providing practical support that goes beyond traditional financing solutions. This support helps tech startups develop their business models and enhance their readiness for growth and sustainability through discussions on various topics, including growth management, team building, decision-making in dynamic business environments, and project sustainability.
Boubyan reinforced its global presence by winning three prestigious awards from Global Finance as part of the Best Islamic Financial Institutions Awards 2026. The awards included «Best Islamic Bank for Transaction Banking», «Most Innovative Islamic Bank», and «Best Islamic Bank for Personal Banking». These accolades reflect the success of the bank’s strategy in developing an Islamic banking model that combines innovation, operational efficiency, and excellence in financial services delivery.
Boubyan released its 2025 Sustainability Report, titled «Consolidating Institutional Sustainability Practices: A Fundamental Pillar of Growth». The report outlined progress in implementing the group’s sustainability strategy, highlighting achievements in environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG), innovation, institutional resilience, and human capital empowerment. It underscores the bank’s commitment to creating sustainable value aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Boubyan places significant emphasis on investing in human capital and developing national talent through its summer training programs for university students, as well as organizing specialized workshops and lectures in collaboration with various universities and academic institutions. These initiatives aim to enhance young people’s readiness for the job market.
Boubyan further solidified its presence in the regional and local economic landscape by featuring on Forbes’ list of the Top 100 Listed Companies in the Middle East for 2026, based on market capitalization, assets, and profitability. The bank ranked third locally among Kuwaiti banks and 52nd regionally, advancing nine positions compared to last year’s ranking.
In a further affirmation of its commitment to implementing global best practices in quality management, the bank has been awarded the ISO 9001 certification for its quality management systems. This achievement complements the institution’s ongoing development journey, which was crowned last year with the integrated implementation of the ISO 21500 standards for corporate project management and execution.
