5 Silent Symptoms That Signal the Onset of Cancer

The website Bored Panda published a report citing American oncologist Dr. Matthew Calabrese, who revealed a set of early symptoms that may indicate cancer. However, many people ignore them or attribute them to less serious causes, thereby delaying diagnosis and treatment.

The doctor noted that the symptoms most often overlooked by people include persistent fatigue that does not improve with rest, unexplained weight loss, and severe night sweats that soak clothes and bedding. He emphasized that when these symptoms appear together without an obvious cause, they warrant an immediate visit to a doctor.

1. Painless lumps or swellings that appear under the skin in the neck, under the armpit, or in the groin area, and continue to grow slowly.

3. A cough that does not respond to treatment and lasts for more than three weeks, accompanied by hoarseness that does not go away.

4. Wounds and ulcers that do not heal within a reasonable period, particularly inside the mouth or on the lips.

Calabrese warned that the threshold for concern should be lowered for individuals with a family history of cancer, smokers, or those over the age of 50, advising against postponing routine check-ups and urging people to pay attention to the signals their body sends.

He added that early detection is the strongest weapon against most types of cancer, clarifying that many cases discovered in their early stages have a very high cure rate, whereas delays reduce treatment options and increase risks.

The report concluded by emphasizing that awareness of these symptoms is the first line of defense, and that consulting a doctor upon noticing any unexplained, persistent changes in the body is a decision that could save a life.
