Iran's Attacks Are War Crimes... Requiring International Accountability
In response to Iran’s continued escalation and reckless behavior, including targeting civilian objects and vital facilities in the State of Kuwait and several sister countries with missiles and drones, a wave of Arab, Gulf, and Islamic condemnations has persisted. These statements have been accompanied by repeated affirmations of full solidarity with the targeted nations, placing full responsibility on Tehran for its violations, and calling for firm measures to deter its aggression and safeguard the security and stability of the region.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, strongly condemned the treacherous Iranian attacks that targeted the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, hitting infrastructure and civilian facilities, resulting in injuries to several civilian workers in Kuwait.
In a statement on Saturday, Al-Budaiwi affirmed that the GCC stands united with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, supporting all measures taken by these countries to protect their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured in Kuwait.
For his part, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy warned of the severe dangers posed by Iran’s culpable and reckless attacks on several Arab countries, particularly in the Gulf region, in an overt attempt to expand the conflict and push the region toward instability, undermining security and peace.
Fahmy, in a statement, expressed full rejection of this unjustified Iranian aggression, noting that the escalating pace of blatant and condemned Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar, which targeted infrastructure and vital facilities, as well as the repeated assaults on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, all reflect an aggressive approach that cannot be ignored or tolerated.
In the same vein, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the ongoing brutal Iranian aggression against Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, reaffirming the Kingdom’s full support for the sister countries in their responses to these Iranian attacks, which violate international law and principles of good neighborliness.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a Saturday bulletin that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of sister states and a threat to their security and stability. It reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, and affirmed its support for all efforts aimed at preserving their security and stability.
In Doha, Qatar strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on its territory, as well as those on the territories of Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, considering them a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the targeted states, and a flagrant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a bulletin that the continuation of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation that could complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. It held Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks and their ensuing repercussions and consequences.
For its part, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the repeated culpable Iranian attacks, which targeted civilian and vital facilities in the Kingdom, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan using missiles and drones. It considered these acts a dangerous escalation threatening civilian safety and regional security and stability, and a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.
The ministry affirmed, in a statement, Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister states and its support for their right to take all lawful measures to defend their sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and residents on their territory, in accordance with the provisions of international law, Article 51 of the UN Charter, and the Joint Defense Agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
For its part, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the renewed brazen Iranian attacks on the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, including the targeting of a power station and a water desalination plant. It considered these actions a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the states, a threat to their security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a serious escalation and blatant breach of international law and the UN Charter. The ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s absolute solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain and its steadfast support for them in all steps they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents.
For its part, the Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait, Bahrain, and the Sultanate of Oman, including strikes on several civilian facilities and critical infrastructure.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that these acts constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of those states and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the Gulf region and exacerbates regional tensions.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, considered these attacks a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states, a threat to security and stability in the region, and a clear breach of international law, the UN Charter, and the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The statement reaffirmed Yemen’s full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan, and its support for all measures taken by these states to preserve their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
For his part, the Council of Arab Interior Ministers strongly condemned the heinous Iranian aggression against Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan, expressing its full solidarity and absolute support for the targeted Arab states.
The council emphasized that this brazen aggression, which warrants firm condemnation, falls within the context of Iran’s ongoing hostile behavior and its continuous efforts to undermine security and stability in the region and threaten international peace and security.
