China and Pakistan call on the US and Iran to resume negotiations and implement a ceasefire

The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan called on the United States and Iran to halt fighting and return to the negotiating table, following their meeting in Shanghai on Friday.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, “expressed concern over the deterioration of the current situation and urged all relevant parties to immediately cease hostilities and return to dialogue.”

They emphasized that “peace is within reach. We cannot fail at the final hurdle and lose everything we have achieved.”
