Municipality: Continuation of the removal of encroachments on state lands

Sulaiman Al-Ghaith, head of the Violations Removal Department at the Capital Governorate branch of the municipality, said in a media statement during a tour of the Jabir Al-Ahmad residential area that “the campaign has achieved its objectives through the cooperation of most residents, who removed their own violations.”

Al-Ghaith added that “this campaign, which began more than a month ago, aimed to remove and prevent the construction of green fences around house setbacks or the establishment of diwaniyas on street sidewalks, which endanger visitors.”

He clarified that “the tour of the Jabir Al-Ahmad area saw the removal of an illegal diwaniya situated between two transformers—one belonging to the Ministry of Transport and the other to the Ministry of Electricity and Water—posing a danger to the lives of citizens and residents due to its proximity to the transformers, as well as hindering future maintenance operations.”

He noted that “the most common types of violations encountered by the team during the campaign were illegal iron fences and the construction of illegal diwaniyas that obstruct government services, as well as landscaping and agricultural works carried out near transformers and infrastructure services.”

Al-Ghaith stressed that “no building may be constructed near electrical transformers at a distance of less than four meters, and that no structures may be erected on pathways between houses, nor may these pathways be used for storage.”

He called on owners of encroachments on state-owned properties in private and model housing to promptly respond and remove all forms of encroachments.
