Inauguration of the world's largest trucking logistics zone at Jeddah Port

Al Arabiya – Jeddah Islamic Port is witnessing the inauguration of the world’s largest truck marshalling area, marking a new step in the global logistical transformation underway in Saudi Arabia. The new area, the largest of its kind globally, spans more than one million square meters.

The facility has a capacity to accommodate over 40,000 trucks, with the ability to handle more than 2,700 trucks moving in both directions simultaneously, thereby enhancing the efficiency of transport and logistics operations at the port.

Minister of Transport and Logistics Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser signed seven investment contracts with government and private entities worth over one billion riyals, aimed at activating the area and maximizing its operational and investment potential.

Al Arabiya noted that the establishment of this area responds to global logistical shifts and changes in the transport and supply chain sectors over recent years. It will serve the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf region, and will serve as a major hub for truck movements linked to exports and imports.

Jeddah Islamic Port played a pivotal role during previous crises, contributing to the supply of Red Sea ports, as well as ports along the Kingdom’s eastern coast and the Arabian Gulf. The new logistical zone will reinforce this role and support the efficiency of port operations.

Al Arabiya added that Saudi Vision 2030 aims to consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistical hub connecting the three continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe. The strategic location of Jeddah Islamic Port at the heart of global trade routes makes it a cornerstone for achieving these objectives.
