Frustration of Two Smuggling Attempts of "Kimia Chemicals" via Air Freight

In detail, inspectors from the Air Cargo Customs Administration, through their field efforts and high vigilance during customs inspection and supervision operations, suspected an incoming shipment and subjected it to thorough inspection, where they found 100 sheets saturated with a chemical substance, with a total weight of approximately 790 grams.

In the second seizure, officers from the Customs Research and Investigation Administration, based on prior information and investigations, identified an incoming air cargo shipment. After undergoing the necessary procedures, it was revealed to contain a parcel comprising books, with printed sheets saturated with a substance suspected to be “the chemical” hidden inside one of them. This represents a new and innovative smuggling method used to conceal substances listed among psychotropic drugs. The total weight of the seized items was 2.720 kilograms. In coordination with the General Administration for Combating Narcotics, a suspect of Indian nationality was apprehended upon his arrival and collection of the two shipments, and legal procedures against him are ongoing.

The General Customs Administration stated that “the total amount seized in the two operations included 100 sheets saturated with the chemical substance, in addition to printed sheets saturated with the same substance, with a combined weight of approximately 2.720 kilograms, bringing the total weight of the seized items to approximately 3.510 kilograms.”
