Al-Hawila: Directing efforts toward initiatives that achieve sustainable developmental impact

Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, emphasized the importance of launching targeted initiatives aimed at women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, which would contribute to developing the services provided to them and enhancing their quality of life. She stressed the necessity of directing efforts toward initiatives that achieve sustainable developmental impact.

In this context, Minister Al-Huwaila held talks today, Thursday, with Ghada Taher, the Resident Coordinator in Kuwait and Representative of the UN Secretary-General, to explore ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of sustainable development.

In a statement following the meeting, Al-Huwaila said that the discussions covered the implementation of developmental initiatives and programs targeting priority groups, within the framework of the strategic partnership between Kuwait and UN institutions, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

She highlighted the importance of leveraging the specialized advisory expertise of the United Nations in organizing training programs and capacity-building for social sector workers, in order to enhance the efficiency of national cadres and improve the level of services provided to beneficiary groups.

Al-Huwaila noted that the mechanisms for signing the Strategic Cooperation Framework were discussed, in coordination between the United Nations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and align with Kuwait’s developmental vision and the UN 2030 Agenda.
