3,800 counterfeit goods seized in two warehouses in Hawalli

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced that inspection teams, following prior monitoring and surveillance operations, seized two warehouses located in separate buildings in Hawalli Governorate. The warehouses contained large quantities of clothing and footwear bearing counterfeit versions of global brand trademarks.

Al-Ansari explained that the inspections revealed the violator was displaying and selling these goods to consumers, in clear violation of the legislation governing the protection of intellectual property rights and trademarks. This constitutes an infringement on the rights of trademark-owning companies and negatively impacts the state’s efforts to combat counterfeit goods and enhance Kuwait’s standing in international indicators and rankings related to intellectual property rights protection.

Al-Ansari emphasized the continuation of intensive inspection campaigns across various markets, reiterating that there will be no leniency toward any practices that harm consumer rights or violate intellectual property rights. He called on everyone to comply with regulations and laws, contributing to the establishment of a fair and secure commercial environment.
